The Boston Red Sox will make their first appearance in the World Series since 2013 when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday in Game 1 of this year’s Fall Classic as betting favorites on the World Series odds. Los Angeles remains a +135 underdog to claim its first World Series title since 1988. (according to Sportsline)
The model first predicted a Red Sox vs. Dodgers World Series during the All-Star break. That was four months ago! The Dodgers were 53-43 at the All-Star Break and the Red Sox were 68-30.
How the SportsLine Projection Model works:
The computer model simulates the complete World Series 10,000 times — every conceivable pitch, at-bat and inning.
The model projects that there is a 31.6 percent chance this series goes the distance, meaning 7 games. There’s also a 30.5 percent chance that it goes six games. But the team most likely to win each game differs. (source: Sportline)
