Every off-season MLB network breaks down each team based on their current roster. On Sunday’s segment they showed the NL East teams projected lineups and what they should do this off-season to make their lineups better.
Mets 2019 projected lineup based on their current roster:
- Brandon Nimmo
- Jeff Mcneil
- Michael Conforto
- Jay Bruce
- Todd Fraizer
- Dominic Smith
- Kevin Plawecki
- Amed Rosario
If the Mets do not acquire any offensive pieces this off-season then this might be their lineup going into opening day. I do not believe this is a strong lineup. The Mets have a heavy left handed lineup and need to break that up with a right handed bat.
MLB network mentioned the free agent names of Manny Machado, AJ Pollack and Wilson Ramos. However, they also stated they do not believe the Mets can sign Machado.
They stated the Mets priority should be their bullpen. The Mets bullpen was ranked 28th out of 30 teams in 2018. Their bullpen ERA was 4.96. I do believe the Mets need to go out and get some bullpen help but they shouldn’t stop there. Their lineup has to be a priority as well. They need a right handed bat and a catcher.
What do you think of the Mets projected lineup?
