On Thursday night, MLB Network finished their annual countdown of the Top 100 players going into the 2019 season. Six Mets were in the top 100.

10. Jacob deGrom: He put together an all-time-great pitching season in 2018 — an MLB-best 1.70 ERA, plus 269 strikeouts.

52. Edwin Diaz: He had a career year in 2018 in which he registered a 1.96 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, 1.61 FIP, and 124 strikeouts in 73 1/3 innings pitched while notching an MLB-leading 57 saves.

54. Robinson Cano: In just 80 games in 2018, he hit .303 with an .845 OPS, 22 doubles, 10 homers and 50 RBIs.

55. Brandon Nimmo: He posted a .263 avg with 17 HR, .404 OBP, .483 SLG .886 OPS in 2018.

60. Michael Conforto: 2018 had its ups and downs for Conforto. The first half of the season he was clearly still bothered by his shoulder. From July 12 through the end of the season, Conforto hit .272/.360/.537 with 18 homers (he hit 28 overall last season) and 15 doubles in 72 games (268 at-bats).

79. Noah Syndergaard: In 2018, Noah posted a record of 13-4 with an ERA of 3.03 in 154.1 innings pitched. He had 155 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.21.

Final thought: I am surprised Jed Lowrie did not make the top 100. He hit.267 with 23 home runs and 99 RBIs for the Oakland Athletics in 2018.
