Mike Piazza is in Mets camp today talking to the media. One reporter asked him about  the possibility of the Mets retiring David Wright’s No. 5 next to his own No. 31 at Citi Field: “There’s room up there for him.”

David Wright is the Mets all time leader in Hits, Runs, RBI’s Doubles, Base on Balls. He is second in Home runs and war. He wore his heart out on his sleeve and stayed with the team during the rebuild years. In my opinion, he deserves to have his number retired.

Piazza also told reporters that he sold his soccer club and is currently living in Italy, where his children attend school.  Piazza talked about his retirement and said: “ Drink the vino, munch on the pasta and enjoy the life.”
