According to Todd Zolecki of Mlb.com, the
#Phillies had sold roughly 200,000 more tickets than last year. This was before the Bryce Harper signing. They have sold about 100,000 tickets since the Harper signing according to #Phillies senior VP of ticket operations John Weber.
Investing is the act of committing money or capital to an endeavor (a business, project, real estate, etc.), with the expectation of obtaining an additional income or profit.
In this case, Bryce Harper is the investment and the Phillies plan on obtaining an additional income or profit in the 13 years he is with the team. This profit could be earned through additional ticket sales, merchandise, concessions and additional games (playoffs)
It is mind boggling that more owners did not see Bryce Harper or Manny Machado as an opportunity to grow their business and also put the best product on their field. That’s all I have to say.
