As ridiculous as this title is, according numerous sources and GM Brodie Van Wagenan, Yoenis Cespedes has suffered ankle fractures on his Florida ranch, calling into question 2019 and possibly 2020.

The Mets were said to not be relying on Cespedes to return this season, but this has got to be a big blow from a clubhouse perspective that is at best, running on fumes given 4 straight losses, including an incredulous sweep at the hands of the Marlins.

“That’s the story from his standpoint,” Brodie Van Wagenen said.

This statement does not exactly brim with confidence that Cespedes is telling the truth either, and coming from the General Manager, you have to assume big changes are going to take place this season, even if it does not mean the firing of Manager Mickey Callaway.

It would not be a shock if this is now the end of Cespedes’ career as a Met. It would make his last game with the Mets July 20th of 2018, where he was activated 1 game against the Yankees, hit a homerun, and was placed on the DL the day after.
